We never had an exersaucer with Austin so we decided to go for it with Kayla. She has all hand-me-down baby toys so we got it for her. I love it! It keeps both kids quite occupied for a while. When Kayla isn't in it Austin loves to go in it. He is way too big, but he insists so I let him. When Kayla is in it he plays on the outside of it. It gives me a nice 20 minute break. I love you exersaucer!

Gotta Love the Entertainment Toys

I Promised
an update so here it is :)
I have been busy with these kids, but still promise to take time to keep up the good old blog. I finally had a moment this evening. Jason is on the couch watching the Red Wings game. I have to say, I like to watch the Wings. It gives me a nice feeling of home.
Things are good here. Texas is for sure getting too hot for me. When I step outside it takes my breath away. The humidity is terrible here. I have a feeling soon we will be stuck inside due to intense heat. We are trying to enjoy it now because they say it is mild..geesh! It makes me miss Michigan even more. The heat brings out BIG yuck monster bugs...ewwww. I have seen several hornet nests around our place, even on our patio. Spiders are out in full force and they have a lot of snakes here too. Some very dangerous and poisonus. You will not catch me outside at night anytime soon! I have also seen a lot of armadillos, but I am sad to say I only see them on the side of the road dead :( I was driving the other night and saw something hopping all over the road. Couldn't tell you what it was though, I have no clue. Enough about that, I know you want to hear about the kids.
Austin and Kayla are doing great. Austin is repeating everything, and I really do mean everything. Jason and I really have to watch what we say to one another. A few times he has repeated things that shocked us, and made us laugh to ourselves. He loves to play outside and of course he still loves Lightning McQueen! I have to say though, Spiderman is growing on him quite a bit. He calls him "Spiders." I have a big announcement to make, Austin used the potty for the first time!! We are very proud of him. He has only done it twice, but he is really getting the idea now.
Little Kayla Bug is growing and changing so much everyday. She is still very easy going and laid back. She always has a smile on her face and it's so easy to make her laugh. I love when she laughs. Her favorite thing to do is watch her Big Brother. She loves him so much and he knows how to entertain her quite well. Austin is really starting to look out for her. She isn't sleeping through the night anymore. She wakes up once a night to eat. Oh well, the good night sleep was nice while it lasted.
Jason and I are doing very well. I still miss Michigan, but I know it's whats best for our Family right now. Jason is loving his job more and more everyday. I am glad he is happy and that he can provide for us while I take care of the kids. I love being with them all day and raising them. I do miss working, but I don't want to miss out on these times with them. They grow up too fast.
We are bummed we can't make it home in May, but it wasn't the right time for us. Don't worry, we will make sure to be back this summer. I can't wait to see everyone. I miss the family friends and life I has there.

Bumbo Time
He loves the Water
We went to the Water Park with Austin. He wasn't sure about it at first, but he really warmed up to it and had a blast. We met Grandma, Dad and Cheryl there. They watched Kayla while we swam with Austin. First we did the Lazy River then played in the Toddler area. He even got brave enough to go down a slide with his Dad. Good thing about this Water Park is the Company Jason works for runs it so we can go whenever we want!
Safari
We went on out first Safari yesterday, and it was one of the coolest things ever! Well, we drove through fields of hungry gentle animals. I have never been to a place like this, but have always heard of them. They gave us several bags of food to throw out for them. I was surprised that all of the animals went right up to the car. The ostriches kept scaring me. They kept sneaking up on me and begging at the window for food. One even snatched the food right out of my hand. Austin had a blast and it was a good learning experience for him as well. Austin's favorite animals were the Donkeys and the Zebras. He learned that a Donkey said Hee Haw and he was doing it every time he saw them.
We went with the Family. Jason's Dad, Grandma and Cheryl all came in town for a week to visit. It has been so nice to have them here. We are sad they are leaving tomorrow, but so happy they came all the way to Texas to visit.
Big Brother
Austin is finally becoming more interested in Kayla. He is going around her much more and helping me take care of her. Sometimes he still gets a little too rough with her, but he is a 2 year old boy. He loves to talk to her and pet her head lol. Kayla's favorite thing to do is watch him play. She is amazed by him. Here are a couple pics of Austin helping give her a bath last night.

Doctor Visit!
We took the kids to the Doctor today. It was my first time to a Texas Doctor and first time taking 2 kids for check ups. Kayla for her 2 month and Austin for his 2 year. The office was very nice and had several big play jungle jim type toys for Austin. He played quietly while we waited. That was nice.
Austin did quite well. He is still a skinny guy, weighs 26 pounds. He listened very well and loved the Doctor. Our Doc for sure looked like a Cowboy to me. The way he was dressed made me giggle. I was quite impressed with him and the care the kids received. He took his time and visited with us and Austin. I liked my Doctor back home, but this was just a different experience to me. Austin is in the Terrible 2's and he gave me some pointers on how to handle him. It can't last forever though!
Kayla is 12 pounds and doing awesome. Her Thrush has gone away finally. She does have cradle cap, but no big deal. She got her 1st shots and it broke my heart. Jason had to leave the room because Austin couldn't sit still. Kayla also had to get bloodwork. They did that right after the shots so she was quite upset. I wish Jason could have stayed in there with us.

Quiet Day
Yesterday we just hung around the house. Austin had fun coloring his lightning pictures and Kayla just relaxed like the good baby she is. We are really falling into a good routine here with the kids. I wish I could take them out more, but that will happen when Kayla gets a little older. I did join a Mom group that get together a few times a month with their kids. Next place is Build-a-Bear. I am going to try and make it.
Now we are just getting ready for Austin's Big 2nd Birthday on Saturday. We are thinking of a trip to the local zoo here in Tyler. Oh, and we for sure are in the terrible 2's. I sometimes wonder where my sweet little guy has gone. He is into screaming and telling me no for everything. He refuses to eat much of anything and only wants cookies. I am just hoping this phase doesn't last too long. Just look at that innocent face, yeah right!

Sunday Golf
We decided to take a walk to the golf course this morning. We have a putting green we are able to use free of charge and Austin loves to play there. It was very hot out and I am not used to it. Austin had a blast and Jason did too. Little Kayla just rested in the stroller. It was a good start to the day. Austin kind of got the concept of golfing. He likes to throw the balls instead of hit them, but he will get the hang of it. Jason will make sure of that. I think we wore the kids out, they are both down for a nap now. I am going to clean and unpack some more.
